If you read all the chatter about link strategies, most of is about the importance of linking… not HOW to get links back to your site.

So, would you like to get good quality links directly back to your site without paying for them and without the hassles of reciprocal links? Then write an article. It’s that simple. I built a brand new site on a new domain and wrote one simple article and posted it to several article distribution sites. These are sites that webmasters go to when they need content for their site. The deal is they can put the content on their site as long as the keep the link back to your site. In less than two weeks I had a dozen links pointing to my new site (I know this because I run  software to check backlinks).

It’s important to write and article about a real “topic”. It can’t be (and doesn’t need to be) an advertisement for your web site. For example, if your web site is about automobiles, then write and article about some of the new models coming out. If it’s about gardening, then write an article about planting pansies or something. The more interesting you make it, the better chance other webmasters will pick it up and put it on their site. But the best part is even if no webmasters take your article, it gets posted on the article distribution sites and you at least get the link back from them!
